The city of Salina has a population of 48,000 people. Salina is located in the north-central portion of Kansas. Salina's main industries are manufacturing and agriculture.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
48 semester credits of class work are required for graduation -14 are elective and 34 are required.

  • 1 semester of Oral Communication

MARKING SYSTEM:
Letter grades of A, B, C, D & F are given in all areas. Passing grade is 60%. Rank in class is computed at the end of each semester. All class members are included in the ranking. Grade point average is weighted. Only AP (Advanced Placement) courses receive a higher weight. Unweighted GPA and rank is available upon request.

CURRICULUM:
The AP Courses are designated on the transcript. Advanced Placement courses are included in the following departments: Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science, Music and Art. Accelerated courses are offered in the areas of Mathematics, English, and Social Studies. Honor Society members are eligible based upon 3.7 grade point average, and community and school service.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Seniors and some juniors may take courses at Kansas State-Salina or Kansas Wesleyan. Some students also take courses at Salina Area Technical College.
